To practice journalism as a foreign correspondent or reporter in Ghana one needs prior clearance from the Information Services Department of the Ministry of Information. Download a Press Accreditation application Form here for completion with two (2) recent passport photos.

DUAL CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION

REQUIREMENTS FOR DUAL CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION

The Citizenship Act (Act 591 of 2000) states among that, “A citizen of Ghana who acquires the citizenship of another country in addition to his Ghanaian citizenship shall notify in writing the acquisition of the additional citizenship to the Minister in such form and in such manner as may be prescribed.”
The application for registration as a dual citizen is made on Form 10 (Application for Registration as a Dual Citizen).
The total cost of the application is 1,630 Dirhams. This is made up of 1,250 Dirhams for the application and 380 Dirhams for the Certificate of Dual Citizenship (Form 11). The total cost of the application 1,630 Dirhams is to be paid in full when applying for the form. Dual Citizenship Application forms can only be picked and submitted (upon completion) on Wednesdays between 0930 and 1230 hours at the Consular Section.

Who qualifies to apply for Dual Citizenship?

A Citizen of Ghana who holds citizenship of another country in addition to citizenship of Ghana.

To provide the following:

a.Evidence of Ghanaian nationality – Current Ghanaian passport and photocopy

b. Evidence of citizenship of another country – Current passport and photocopy\

OR

Certificate of Naturalization (where applicable) and photocopy

c. Four (4) Photographs [Applicant’s name to be clearly written behind photographs]

d. Citizen of another country who also qualifies for Ghanaian citizenship.

Ghanaian Citizenship can be through Birth, Descent, Registration, Naturalization or Adoption).

If applicant qualifies for Ghanaian citizenship by descent, he or she has to provide following:

• Evidence of descent
• Current passport of applicants Ghanaian parent and photocopy

e. Evidence of citizenship of another country – Birth certificate & current passport and photocopy

f. Four(4) photographs [Applicant’s name to be clearly written behind photographs]

Applicants are also to provide the following:

a. Names, postal addresses and telephone numbers of two (2) close relatives living in Ghana who may be contacted for further information.

b. Residential/Contact telephone number(s) of applicant in the Kingdom of Brazil.

AUTHENTICATION OF DOCUMENTS

Applicants for Authentication / Legalization of document are required to submit the following;

• The original document
• Endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Accra or Brazil.
• Copy of Passport•Proof of payment (R$240.00)

EMERGENCY TRAVEL CERTIFICATE

Emergency Travel Certificate (TC) is issued only to a person who is not in possession of Ghana Passport and need to travel to Ghana under emergency situation. TC is for a single journey to Ghana only, usually valid for three months and ceases to be a valid document upon entry into Ghana.

• Fully completed registration / application form
• Evidence of Ghanaian citizenship, Ghanaian passport, birth certificate or national identity card.
• Any Brazilian document
• 3 passport sized photos
• Proof of payment (R$ 240)
